PETERBOROUGH –Community Futures Peterborough and its Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Gail Moorhouse as its interim Executive Director. Moorhouse has valuable knowledge and understanding of Community Futures Peterborough garnered through her roles both in the private sector and as a Board member.
“We are confident Gail is the best person to lead the organization through this transition and maintain stability for our clients during this time,” says Board Chair Peter Gaffney. “In addition to her successful career, her service on the Board provides her with the skills, knowledge and experience to oversee the organization during this transitory period.”
Moorhouse also has more than 20 years’ experience in various sales, management, training and marketing roles. She currently runs her own business in Ennismore and has previously held positions with Microsoft, HP and Catalyst Finance.
Moorhouse is replacing Jeff Day who announced his resignation in December. She has resigned from her position from the Board during this interim appointment.

Community Futures Peterborough is pleased to announce new directors elected to its Board. At the Annual General Meeting Kim Appleton was elected Chair of the Board. Kim replaced Dan Stanford who had held the position for the past two years and was leaving the Board after completing 10 years of service.
Kim Appleton is the President, CAO and a founding partner of Emmatt Digital Solutions Inc., an international, full-service web development agency. Since 1998, Emmatt has been assisting businesses to be more efficient and profitable through the adoption of leading-edge technologies such as online databases, e-commerce and fundraising platforms, responsive web design, mobile apps, and search engine optimization. Kim is a Past President of the Women’s Business Network of Peterborough.
Kim said “I very am pleased to accept this honour, Community Futures plays a very important role in helping small business within Peterborough County and City, we want to continue and indeed broaden our base by lending money to support growth and expansion. All of which generates jobs and creates an improved economy”. She complimented the previous Boards for their work that had been done and said “I am looking forward to continue working with our Board and staff to serve the entrepreneurs of our community”.
Community Futures Peterborough is a not-for-profit organization that provides startup & expansion loans and counselling services to small businesses. We receive operational funding assistance provided from the Government of Canada through FedDev Ontario.
Founded in 1985, Community Futures has provided more than 700 businesses with loans in excess of $28,000,000.
We are looking for residents of Peterborough County to add to our professional team of volunteers. Specifically we are seeking individuals who:
- Are interested in community economic development
- Have an understanding of financial statements
- Have the desire to provide mentoring to small business owners
