Here is a list of some of the mentoring programs that support entrepreneurs in the City and County of Peterborough:
The B.L.A.S.T. Pilot Program is designed to provide local skilled tradespeople, product creation and professional service entrepreneurs over 30 with the assistance, support and training needed for business success.
Through this program you receive:
- access to online learning resources and training to develop a business plan
- one-on-one guidance from Business Advisory Centre staff
- the opportunity to apply for a spot in the “Top 16 in 2016”. The award recipients will receive mentorship opportunities and a $5,000 micro-grant.
If you are between 18-29 years old, you can get up to $5,000 and professional mentoring to start and expand a business in Ontario. Mentoring is provided through Peterborough Economic Development’s Business Advisory Centre.
Learning how to run your own student business is one of the best summer jobs you can have. You get to be your own boss while learning what it takes to manage a business. Sales, marketing, invoicing, bookkeeping, customer relationship, management — these are just a few of the highly useful skills you will develop.
Startup Peterborough is a place for budding and seasoned entrepreneurs alike to gather, learn from each other and get access to invaluable resources, and programming. This new organization (summer of 2015) is entrepreneur-led and committed to the long-term success and sustainability of our community. Their philosophy is:

A Student Venture inspires high school students to understand the role of business in our society by creating an enterprise of their own. By collaborating with professional volunteer consultants to design, organize and operate a real business, student’s experience how a small enterprise functions. These new entrepreneurs work within the structure of our Canadian economic system and realize the benefits it provides.
